About Me


Hi there,

I'm Sam and I'm a runner.  I'm a 244 lb runner, but a runner still.  I'm preparing for my first half marathon in September and my first full marathon in February 2014.  In the process of preparing for these races, I'm looking to drop to my first weight loss goal of 225 lbs.  I've already come down from 287, which is a victory of itself.

I'm a husband and father, looking to improve in all phases of my life.  I have battled my weight for a long time and I struggle regularly with eating right.  I love pasta, bread, sweets, you name it.  But, running and my determination not to quit, has helped me and continues to help me to do that.

This is my journey's home base and I hope that you will come visit from time to time.  Feel free to subscribe to my blog and join me on my journey to accomplishing a couple of goals that I set in 2012.  One of the main purposes of my blog is to help inspire others to set goals and work diligently to achieve them.  I'll be talking about my experiences throughout this journey and hopefully you can gain something from them as a newer or heavier runner.

Throughout my journey, I'll also be reviewing different products, as I'm actively looking for the perfect mix of aid and gear to help me in my training and performance in races.  So you will benefit from me already testing  a product before you try it.

      Thank you for the comment! I am interested in a mutual following and appreciate your help in creating an online community of people who want to begin enjoying the benefits of improving their lives through fitness.

      The dzlrunner community is not only for veterans of fitness, but beginners too!!
